Hobo Sign Brass Pin (raw finish)

At the time of the Great Depression in America, many people travel across the country-usually by train-to find work. Since they have to find food to eat and avoid dangers on their adventures, these people use a system of symbols to communicate with-and warn of dangers-to their bindlestiff bearing comrades.
This series of pins focuses not only on railroad history, but also on certain issues such as communication and the marginalization of people.
